File response in two weeks: High Court to Govt

CROSS-VOTING CASE

Jammu, Oct 11: High Court today allowed plea of the state government to file objections in two weeks time in a writ petition filed by expelled BJP MLA Prof Chaman Lal Gupta challenging the disqualification notice issued by his party.
 The court directed that the status quo with regard to the proceedings, initiated in response to the communication dated May 23, 2011, shall be maintained.
The BJP leader has challenged the disqualification notice as well as the appointment of another party MLA Jugal Kishore as leader of the BJP’s Legislative Party. JNF
