Nayeem Khan concerned over plight of detainees

Srinagar, Oct 12: Chairman of National Front and senior Hurriyat Conference (M) leader, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, on Wednesday expressed deep concern over the plight of Kashmiri detainees languishing in various Jails across the state.
“I received a report about the prisoners from a special Committee of my organization. The report reveals that almost all the prisoners are physically so ill due to long imprisonments that some among them are now unable to move. Even some have lost their eye sight,” Khan said in a statement.
He said Muhammad Afzal Guru of Sopore, Nisar Hussain and Ali Muhammad of Srinagar are three Kashmiris who are waiting for their death in the dark cells of Tihar jail.
Besides, there are another more than 15 Kashmiris who have been sentenced with life imprisonments while as Mahmood Topi wala, of Kangan is languishing in the infamous Tihar Jail for past 20 years.
Khan said Kashmiris who are facing life sentences include ,M Amin Wani of Banihal, Mushtaq Ahmed Kaloo of Sopore, Noor Muhammad Tantray of Tral, Parvaiz Ahmed of Tral, M Iqbal Jan of Bandipore, Ghulam Qadir Bhat, Feroz Ahmad Bhat, M Ayoub Mir, M Ayoub Dar, Dr M Qasim, M Shafi and Ghulam Muhammad Dar all residents of Srinagar.
Khan appealed to the rights organizations and International Red Cross Society (IRCS) to visit the Indian Jails and release a detailed report about them. Khan said, “We appeal to all the rights organizations and especially IRCS to come up with a detailed report about the Kashmiri prisoners in order to build some pressure on India to release these prisoners who have been jailed on the baseless charges.”
Nayeem Khan also condemned another PSA slapped against Muslim League Leader Mushtaq Ul Islam calling it an act of political revenge.
