Govt squads raid City shops to check illegal LPG refilling

Srinagar, Oct 13: The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir has constituted special teams to raid City markets to check allegedly illegal LPG filling in vehicles, which as per observers can prove disastrous.
An official statement said on Thursday a special squad raided a Travel agency Kashmir Fiza at Kohnakhan, Dalgate, against whom complaints were received of illegally selling and filling LPG to commercial and other LPG operated vehicles.
“The special squad comprising of Executive Magistrate, Asst Director (Enforcement) CAPD, Deputy Controller Legal Metrology, Kashmir and Police party raided the shop in the early hours, but no substantial evidence could be found,” it said.
The statement added that the owner of the travel agency was however, warned to desist from any illegal activity otherwise penal action under law, would be initiated, which can include cancellation of the license of the travel agency. It said that the shop was found to have illegally hooked an illegal electric connection from the nearby transformer and Executive Engineer, Electric Deptt Division 1st was directed to proceed against the accused, under law.
Later the squad inspected various markets including Dalgate, Nishat, Brien and Pahloo and recovered a fine of Rs. 3600 from two bakers, one general grocery, one meat seller and a rice mill for not maintaining rate list and possessing defective weighing machines.
