All Terrain Vehicle rolled out at Gulmarg
Srinagar, Oct 15: Gulmarg Development Authority has introduced a All Terrain Vehicle in famous ski-resort Gulmarg today.
The vehicle was launched by the Minister for Tourism & Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora and MoS Home & Tourism Nasir Aslam Wani at Gulmarg. On the occasion, Director Tourism Kashmir, Farooq Shah and the Chief Executive Officer, Gulmarg Development Authority, Mehmood Shah were present.
Officials said the ATV can be deployed on varied terrain and will be used during Ski Patrol Operations as it can also move on snow. “GDA plans to encourage the ponywallas to purchase such ATVs. A subsidy scheme in this regard is being formulated by J&K Bank. The ATVs will provide gainful employment to the ponywallas and also provide a thrilling option for tourists. As more and more ponywallas will opt for this activity, the number of ponies can be brought down to a more manageable level which will greatly help in improving sanitation in the resort,” GDA said in a statement.
