GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Oct 15: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, Saturday urged the Civil Aviation Ministry to remove all bottlenecks to ensure restoration of international status of Srinagar Airport.
Emphasizing the need to make Srinagar International Airport operational for Hajj flights, the Chief Minister said that Civil Aviation Ministry should ensure that the status of the Srinagar Airport is restored. “Till International flights from Srinagar Airport are restored, the Department of Civil Aviation should at least conduct direct Hajj flights from Srinagar to Jeddah to facilitate Hajj pilgrims from the State”, he said. “State Government is actively advocating this aspect with New Delhi. He expressed hope that the Civil Aviation Department would ensure direct Hajj flights from Srinagar next year.”
The Chief Minister directed the Health Department to provide free of cost influenza vaccination to Hajj pilgrims of the State made mandatory by the Government of Saudi Arabia for Haj-2011
Omar said that two members of Haj Committee have been deputed this year to Jeddah to oversee the functioning of Khudam-ul-Hujaj there. “Each Khudam has been provided with a mobile phone to remain in touch with the Hujaj and respond to their needs”, he added.
