Srinagar, Oct 15: A caravan to mobilize support for revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) would begin its journey from here on Sunday, with noted civil rights activist Madeha Patekar, Magsaysay award winner Dr Sandeep Pandey and brother of Irom Sharmila, Irom Singhajit flagging it off.
 Talking to Greater  Kashmir, Convener of Jammu and Kashmir Right to Information Movement Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat said 20 activists from different parts of India arrived here today to participate in “Save Sharmila Solidarity Campaign.”
 Irom Sharmila is on fast unto death for past 11 years, demanding revocation of AFSPA-1958 from Manipur.
 “The journey will start from Hazratbal on Sunday afternoon and will culminate on October 27 at Jawhar Lal Nehru Hospital Imphal, where Irom Sharmila, is on fast unto death,” he said.
 Bhat said during the journey the activists will inform masses of different non-victim states about hardships faced by people in Jammu and Kashmir and North East due to the applicability of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).
 Meanwhile, Kashmir Reform Group on Saturday held sit-in cum hunger strike at Press Enclave to support the cause of Irom Sharmila.
 “We want to extend our support to the Irom Sharmila, who is on fast from last ten years for revoking the AFSFA from Manipur, we want to extend our support and thankfulness to her as she has demanded same for Kashmir,” said, Khurram Wani, member of KRG.
