NC eliminated Yousuf to stop him from making further revelations: PDP
Billawar, Oct 17: Launching a frontal attack on National Conference, the largest opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday accused the ruling party of removing the “whistleblower” Syed Muhammad Yousuf to stop him making further revelations in “big corruption scam.”
“Yousuf was eliminated to stop him from making further revelations about the prevailing corruption within the National Conference. The incident has exposed both state government and ruling NC,” PDP president Mehbooba Mufti told reporters here on the sidelines of a public rally.
The PDP president remarked, “Whenever we raised the issue of corruption the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah always tried to defend himself by asking for evidence. Yousuf Shah, who brought out evidences against the corruption within NC, was silenced to death. She asked, “If this was the reward of bringing out evidences, who will dare to come forward?”
Responding to a question about the current “anti-graft” Yatra of the BJP leader L K Advani, Mehbooba charged the party with “double standards” saying, “On the one hand the party has organised a corruption rally in the country and on the other, its senior leader and former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa was sent to jail following corruption charges”.
She, however, praised the development activities in Bihar undertaken by the BJP’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and said, “Had the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah followed the Bihar pattern of development, the Jammu and Kashmir situation would have been presenting altogether a different picture.”
“As the Chief Minister has been committing one after another blunders after repeated intervals, he has been spending most of his time in saving his chair during the last three years,” she said and added that Chief Minister has disconnected himself with the people.
