‘Holistic development of all sections my Government’s policy’

Srinagar, Oct 18: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, on Tuesday said that equitable development of all areas and all sections of the society is his Government’s policy and initiatives have already been taken in this direction to realize the cherished goal.
Speaking at the first meeting of Other Backward Classes (OBC) Advisory Board here, the Chief Minister said that the constitution of this and other Boards to address the development needs of various sections of the society itself indicates the priority of his Government to attend to the needs of downtrodden and backward classes of the society.
The Chief Minister said that in order to mitigate the difficulties of people belonging to other backward classes and bring them at par with developed sections of the society OBC Board has to play a vital role. He said the members of the Board should contribute positively in this direction.
He said that Government would provide all help to the Board to help all round development of OBC category of the society.
Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo, Chief Minister’s advisors, Mubarak Gul and Devender Singh Rana, Chief Secretary, Madhav Lal and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
The meeting discussed issues pertaining to the issuance of OBC Certificates to the members of this category as per 1960 revenue record, increase in income slab for scholarship to the students of this population, creation of sub-plan for the development of OBC, vocational trainings to the OBC youth, creation of staff for OBC Board, etc.
