Union Minister inspects Gindun sports project at Rajbagh
Srinagar, Oct 18: Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Ajay Makan, who was on a day-long tour to the State inspected up- coming Sher-i-Kashmir Multi Sports Activity Centre-Gindun here at Rajbag today.
Minister for Youth Services and Sports RS Chib accompanied him during the visit.
Makan asked the executing agency to accelerate the pace of work and complete the project within stipulated time frame so that sports council sis able to start its activities accordingly.
The Minister was told that football field was ready while as construction work on some portion of building is going-on. He also went round the project and inspected its different compartments.
The 19.24 crore project was conceived to meet the long pending demand of valley’s youth of adequate sports facilities under one roof. Spanned over 75 kanals of land, the project is expected to be completed in two phases by December 2012. The Tennis court, one concrete base, two basketball courts, football field and Gym will be completed in Phase-I, while as library restaurant and swimming pool in Phase-II.
Among others, Director Information Kh. Renzushah, Director, Youth Services and Sports (YSS) S. Jaipal Singh, Secretary, J&K State Sports Council Kiran Wattal, Deputy General Manager, JKPCC Nayeen and Deputy Director, YSS Ashok Kumar accompanied the Union Minister.
