JKPM cautions government

BILL ON SLUM DWELLERS

Jammu: The Jammu Kashmir Peoples’ Movement has warned the state government of serious consequences if it went ahead with its move of passing a ‘controversial’ Bill providing property rights to the slum dwellers in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing party workers and prominent citizens at Rajouri, senior APHC leader and JKPM chairman, Ghulam Ahmed Mir said, “The settlement of the slum dwellers in Jammu and Kashmir was a part of the larger conspiracy to open the flood gates for the non-state subjects and settle them in the state.” He said, “Hardly any state subject of J&K resided in the slums. The slum dwellers mostly in Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur, Samba, and Reasi districts are laborers, beggars and other impoverished section of society from other states who came here in search of their livelihood and in connivance with the officials have got their ration cards and voter ID cards prepared.” Harcharan gets charge of Dir Flori
Srinagar: The Government has assigned the charge of Director Floriculture Kashmir to In-charge botanist, Harcharan Pal Singh in addition to his own duties. Meanwhile, the employees of the department have hailed the government decision.
