2 Bhand Pather plays staged in Kupwara
Kupwara, Oct 24: Two Bhand Pather plays Naav-Laj-Danji and Daaj Pather were staged by Natrang and Jammu and Sangeet Natak Akademi, in Kupwara on Monday.
According to a communiqué, the first play Naav-Laj-Danji written and directed by Manzoor Ahmed Bhat was staged at Shatwaari Nagri, Kupwara by Dilkash Folk Theatre.
The second play Daaj Pather written and directed by Bilal Ahmed Mir was presented at Trukpora, Rajwar in Kupwara by Gulistan Bhaghat Theatre.
The communiqué said, Naav-Laj-Daanj created awareness among the public about their birth rights, particularly the right to vote, which empowers them to rule.
The play, ‘Daaj Pather’ was against giving and taking of the dowry and showcased the miseries of a father who loses his life in the struggle of meeting the demands of dowry. The Bhands appealed to the audience to stand out and fight against prevalent dowry system.
