CM for holistic development of artisans in JK

Srinagar, Oct 24: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Monday called for coordinated approach by various government departments to ensure holistic development of artisans in the State.
 Chairing a high level meeting here to discuss issues relating to the cluster development of artisan basties, the Chief Minister directed for constitution of a Committee to be headed by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir to implement a comprehensive strategy in this regard.
 Omar said the welfare of artisans is related to the welfare of the economic aspect of the State stressing on focused attention on the subject. He said the pilot project for the development of artisan clusters should be put in place as early as possible. “All the departments concerned should collectively formulate the requisite plan in this direction”, he said emphasizing on its timeline implementation.
 The Chief Minister was also briefed about the Radio Taxi scheme prepared by the Transport Department for the twin cities of Srinagar and Jammu. The scheme would make transport quick, efficient and comfortable for the commuters and the tourists. There will be a communication network and a control room to govern the system and make it viable. Omar directed for placing the scheme on public domain for two weeks to get public response before final notification in this regard is issued.
 Earlier, the Chief Secretary, Madhav Lal gave resume of these initiatives aimed at addressing the welfare of artisans and improving public transport system in the two cities making it comfortable, efficient and up to the mark.
 Various Administrative Secretaries, Heads of the Departments and senior officers were present in the meeting. The concerned departments heads explained various aspects of these proposals in a PowerPoint presentation in the meeting.
