Farm machinery mela at Kulgam held

Kulgam, Oct 28: A Farm Machinery Mela was today inaugurated at Kulgam.
On the occasion Director, Agriculture Kashmir, Dr Farooq A Lone advised the farmers to take advantage of the schemes the department has launched for them.
He asked them to cooperate with the field extension agency in implementing various programmes launched to make the state self-sufficient in various food crops, pulses and oil seeds.
Additional DDC Kulgam Muhammad Yousuf Zargar advised the farmers to adopt the high-tech agriculture to boost agriculture production along with Mushroom Cultivation, Bee Keeping, Vegetable and Flower Cultivation.
On the occasion experts educated farmers about proper use of inputs and measures taken for optimum cropping.
A large number of farmers attended the mela, the department in a statement said. Several authorised dealers displayed different kind of Agricultural Machinery in the Mela.
The main aim of the Mela was to make the farmers aware about the latest Agricultural Implements and help them purchase Agriculture Implements of their choice from registered companies on subsidy being provided by the Agriculture Department.
Meanwhile, the farmers purchased 64 Irrigation Pump Sets, 35 numbers of Foot Sprayers and One Tractor.
