24 traders fined
Srinagar, Oct 29: 24 traders were fined Saturday for allegedly violating norms in the City markets.
An official handout said: “The field executives of Legal Metrology department under the supervision of Dy. Controller(Enforcement) conducted extensive market checking of different markets of city Srinagar and booked 24 traders for violating Weights and Measures laws/Packaged Commodities Rules.”
“In an instance at Lasjan, a grocery shop was found using a non-standard weight, the Inspector,Circle-1 srinagar booked the trader on spot,” it added.
“In an another incident, a baker was found supplying the consumer underweight- bread. The trader was booked under section-39 of Standards of Weights and Measures Act,1997.”
“The inspecting team at Barbar Shah seized many non-standard/false weights and measures while a cloth-merchant was booked for using uncalibrated metre rod,” the official handout added.’
