EDB clocks 100 pc business growth in 6 months

Srinagar, Oct 29: “Ellaquai Dehati Bank has penetrated deep into the remote villages of its area of operation whereas its customer friendly services are being appreciated in various forums,” said A K Razdan, chairman EDB.
 Speaking at a review meeting at Jammu, Razdan said the business of the Bank has shown cent per cent increase in the first half year of the current financial year as compared to the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
 The chairman said the Bank has extended financial assistance to more than 3,000 business units for running their units. “Agriculture sector financing has been on the top of our agenda and we have aggressively financed the sector by adopting villages under our Debt Swap scheme” he said.
 The chairman emphasized the need for extending credit facilities to small business units for strengthen their income generation capacities.
 The chairman appreciated the role played by the branches of Jammu region in mobilizing sizeable business during the first half year.
 Meanwhile, the chairman distributed prizes among those branches that earned their places in Platinum, Golden and Silver Club through excellent performance during the previous fiscal and expressed his hope that more efforts will be putted in to repeat the feat.
