Congress leader welcomes Tourist Mela
Srinagar, Oct 30: Abdul Majid Wani, MLA Doda and senior leader of the Congress Party has welcomed initiative of the government to organize a Grameen cum Tourist Mela at Lal Dramn in Doda tehsil.
The aim of the Mela was to create awareness among the local people and highlight tourist potential of the place.
Besides Government Departments, thousands of local as well people from other parts of Doda district participated in the Grameen cum Tourist Mela.
However, Wani said the Mela could have been organized in a better way with participation of people from other districts as well as from outside the state.
Wani said that development of tourism sector in Doda Tehsil shall not only improve local economy and but shall also provide numerous employment opportunities to local youth.
The tourist department should invite and bring people from outside the state to showcase tourist potential of Doda Tehsil before them, he said.
Doda constituency has been endowed with a number of such tourist attractive destinations, which have unsurpassable natural beauty and several important centres of pilgrimages in Doda, he said.
Wani said that demands have been made, since last so many years, to develop Health resorts, Herbal Gardens and start adventurous activities like Skiing, Para-gliding, Ropeways & Gondola, tracking, boating & Water sports in Doda.
