Conference on biosciences commences at SP College

Srinagar, Oct 3: Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment on Monday lauded the SP College management for organizing a national level Science conference and said it was a “huge leap towards the development of scientific education and research in the state.”
 The Minister was addressing inaugural function of the conference on “Recent Trends in Biosciences.” He called upon “scientists and researchers to work hard for the betterment of the society through strenuous efforts in propagating bioscience, environmental science with special emphasis on control of global warming and environmental degradation”.
 The function was organized by the Department of Biochemistry and Bio technology, SP College in collaboration with department of Science and Technology, SKIMS, Soura and SKUAST (K).
 Malik was the Chief Guest while as Minister for Science and Technology, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi was the guest of honor.
 Aga while addressing the function impressed upon students to study “deeply the science stream and strive hard in research work”. He said that the “trend of going for MBBS and engineering is diminishing day-by-day and people have understood the scope and significance of modern science.”
 Director Colleges, Professor SL Gupta, Director Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM) Council of Scientific and Industrial Research J&K, Dr Ram Vishwakarma, Principal of the host college Professor Zahoor Ahmad Chatt, OSD, Higher Education Muqbil Chisti, Organizing Secretary Prof (Dr) Syed Eazaz Rizvi were present on the occasion.
 The function was also attended by researchers, academicians, former and present administration of college, Principals of various Degree Colleges which include Professor Nasreen Malik of GDC Sopore, Principal of Amar Singh College.
