DDA revocation

This refers to state Government’s statement in the Assembly that panels constituted last year for reviewing Disturbed Areas Act are yet to finalize their recommendations. The Government constituted two committees; one each for Jammu and Kashmir regions, to look into the areas where from the Armed Forces Special Powers Act could be withdrawn. But it is sad that they are yet to finalize their recommendations despite the urgency of the issue. Last year New Delhi failed to arrive at any decision on revoking AFSPA. Now that the J&K Government had been asked to do the job, they have failed to do it. There is not a single measure that is coming from the government which would make public feel good. So many things were promised in the past, but hardly anything is being done.
