PDP supporters stage protest, demand Speaker’s resignation
SUHAIL AJMAL
Shadipora (Sumbal), Oct 7: Supporters of senior Peoples Democratic Party MLA Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari on Friday staged a protest at Shadipora here in north Kashmir, demanding resignation of Speaker Muhammad Akbar Lone for allegedly using abusive language against the legislator in the Legislative Assembly earlier this week.
Supporters of Ansari under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association (JKSA) assembled on Srinagar-Leh Road near Shadipora and staged a sit-in.
Protesters also demanded an apology from Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on the issue.
Senior leader of Shia Association Aga Sayed Rizvi while addressing protesters demanded immediate removal of Speaker for what they called “hurting the emotions” of Shia community by humiliating Shia Scholar, Cleric and representative of Shia Community.
“It’s the humiliation of whole Shia community. Government should remove biased Speaker and Chief Minster should apologize,” said Rizvi.
Protesters later dispersed off peacefully.
