SKIMS holds conf on ‘dietetics in changing lifestyles’

Srinagar: The department of Dietetics and Therapeutics SK institute of Medical Sciences, Soura in collaboration with Indian Dietetics Association Saturday organized day long conference on ‘dietetics in changing lifestyles’ here.
Addressing the gathering, SKIMS Director, Prof Showkat Ali Zargar spoke about the importance of dietetics saying it was being rec-ognized not only by medical professionals, but also by general public.
He said most important element was communication between patients and dieticians. SKIMS Medical Superintendent, Dr Amin Tabish said lifestyle diseases were major health problem worldwide.
Prof MA Darzi underscored the importance of dietetic therapy for conditions such as diabetes mellitus, nephritis and cardiovascular ailments.
