CS for full compensation to land owners

Srinagar, Sep 9: Chief Secretary, Madhav Lal, today directed payment of full compensation to the land owners, whose land is acquired for laying railway lines and related infrastructure on Udhampur- Baramulla track.
 Chairing an Apex Committee meeting here, the Chief Secretary stressed on expeditious acquisition of the land coming in the alignment of the project, while driving home the importance of the inter-regional rail communication link.
 Regarding the forest clearance, Madhav Lal asked the railway authorities to process the cases for examination of the Apex Committee.
 The issue of revision in alignment necessitating acquisition of new land and proper use of the already acquired land also came up under discussion.
 The Chief Secretary sought full details of the already acquired land which has turned redundant due to change in alignment, to deal with the issue effectively.
 The Deputy Commissioner Budgam highlighted the need to construct level crossing at Sheikhpora Budgam for safety of the pedestrians for which the railway authorities assured proper action.
 The meeting was attended by Chief Administrative Officer Northern Railways,  B D Garg, Principal Secretary R&B, K B Aggarwal, Finance Commissioner Revenue, Parmodh Jain, Commissioner/Secretary PHE, Mehboob Iqbal, Commissioner/Secretary PDD, Basharat Ahmad Dhar, Commissioner/Secretary Revenue, Kachoo Asfandyar Khan, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Pawan Kotwal, Deputy Commissioners, Chief Engineers and other senior railway officers.
