Jammu, Sep 9: Jammu and Kashmir police have registered a murder case against a woman for allegedly killing her minor child with the help of her paramour.
 The inquest proceeding initiated by the police have been converted into the murder case after police recorded statement of at least five witnesses deposing against the woman, sources said.
 Informed sources told Greater Kashmir that the two aunts of the deceased, Shubam Sharma, 9, son of late Kaka Ram of Thalodi village, are among the five witnesses, whose statements have been recorded before a judicial magistrate under section 164 CrPC.
 Police had last month arrested the mother of the child, Vena Devi widow of Kaka Ram on the murder charges.
 Three children, sources said, who were the lone eyewitness to the crime have also given statement before the police.
 Sources, quoting the statements of the children, said that they had gone to the house of Shubham to see television where the accused Darshan Kumar son of Niwas of Moutaliyan Samba at Vijaypur was also present and was drunk.
 “Darshan, the goldsmith, along with Vina Devi widow of Kaka Ram –mother of the deceased child – was sitting in the separate room of the house. The accused, Darshan suddenly called in Shubham and gave him some drug following which, the victim fell unconscious,” the child witnesses told the police.
 They said that the child was then taken to a separate room and was hanged by Darshan in presence of the deceased’s mother.
 A senior police official, preferring not to be named, said that investigators got excess to the revenue papers pertaining to the sale of the property that ultimately led the police to the mystery behind the gruesome murder.
 The child was the sole person to inherit the property of his father and grand parents and this led to the murder, sources said.
 It may be recalled here that police had recovered human femur bone of Shubam Sharma son of late Kaka Ram of Thalodi village in Vijaypur few months back. The police later collected the bones from the adjoining fields and it revealed that the bones were of a minor child. Police initiated an inquest proceed and further investigation of the case led to the accused, who had lodged a missing report of her child.
