Wikileaks cables

This refers to a Wikileaks cable which says that politics in Kashmir is “as filthy as Dal lake” and corruption cuts across party lines. There is no denying the fact that corruption is a major concern in Jammu and Kashmir.  David Mulford in a cable to Washington in 2006 has said that corruption in Jammu and Kashmir is widespread and prevalent not only among mainstream politicians but separatists as well.
The issue can’t be taken lightly because corruption hampers the growth of any station. Today Kashmir is talking a lot about progressing and developing its infrastructure. But how is it possible to go for development when corruption is so rampant in the state. Regarding Kashmir politics, it is a fact that it is “as filthy as Dal lake.” In countries outside India, politics means working for the welfare of people. But in Indian states it means corruption and looting the public exchequers. Let the state government do something about building its lost image. The state has been ranked at no 2 in the list of corrupt states. Let this tag go.
