Baramulla, Sep 12: The Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda Monday said the state police was in close touch with National Investigation Agency (NIA) over the Delhi blast probe. “We are extending full cooperation to NIA in its investigations in Delhi blast. Whatever the outcome of the investigation of any link between Delhi blast and the state will be shared with the people,” Khoda said during the inaugural ceremony of North Kashmir Sports Festival at Degree College Baramulla.
He said that people’s cooperation in maintaining the law and order in the state is very important. While giving credit of present peaceful environment in the state to the students and the traders, DGP said that it is peace which can ensure a flourishing trade and a good future for student community.
On the death of a Sopore youth in police custody, DGP said that investigation in the case is on and will be completed in time.
While reacting to the infiltration bids on LOC, DGP said that every filtration bid is being dealt firmly. He said that the cooperation of people has inflicted heavy loss to the militants.
He said that in most of the operations against militants, utmost care is being taken to avoid civilian causalities. On the presence of the militants, DGP said that around 200-250 militants are active in valley and 55-60 percent of them are affiliated with LeT and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Earlier, the 8th North Kashmir Sports Festival was inaugurated by the DGP in a colorful ceremony. Accompanied by Additional Director General Police, Law and Order, K. Rajindra, IGP Kashmir SM Sahai, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla and several other dignitaries, the DGP stressed upon the need of such events where sports persons are provided platform to prove their hidden talent.
