Corrupt system
This refers to the article ‘Mashter: The Tragic Hero’ (GK 5 Sept). The author has beautifully tried to get the attention of authorities to revisit the recruitment system in school education department. He has posed several questions and talked about the issue of ‘teacher by chance not by choice’. Our education system is unfortunately mired in corruption which has long-term effects on development of this sector. It is a tragedy to see our political leaders and bureaucrats abusing political power by resorting to corruption. It is this corrupt system that invites and allows a person to live by chance and not by choice. However it is unwise to blame government for this menace. We as a society are also responsible for corruption. It is we who take or give bribe to get our work done. Effective educational sector is not possible unless the government demands the output as a matter of right from its teachers.
