BOSE not to upgrade 39 schools in Kashmir

‘THEY LACK BASIC FACILITIES’

Srinagar, Sep 15: The Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education Thursday decided not to grant extension and upgradation in favour of 39 private schools in Kashmir Division for lacking basic facilities.
“After thorough consideration the affiliation committee has decided not to grant upgradation/ extension in favor of 39 schools, on the basis of inspection reports”, the BOSE spokesman said in a statement.
He said the school affiliation committee of the Board met on August 25 and took serious note of the deplorable, run-down, unsafe condition of some private school buildings. “The members decided not to extend their affiliation with the board”, the statement said.
The members, the spokesman said, also advised the parents in the backdrop of the decision to obtain full information regarding the recognition and affiliation of school before admitting their wards in any ‘recognized’ school.
“Board shall not be responsible for the consequences,” it said. Pertinently, the BOSE is holding annual exams for Class 10th and 12th in Kashmir Division from October 12 and 28 respectively. In this regard the schedule has already been published in various local dailies.
