Police solves 2 burglary cases
Stolen goods worth 60 lacs recovered
Srinagar, Sep 15: The City police claimed to have solved two burglary cases involving theft of Kashmiri handicraft from showrooms in Srinagar and recovered stolen lot worth Rs 60 lakhs.
The DIG Central Kashmir Abdul Gani Mir while addressing a press conference said that Muhammad Ashraf Wangnoo son of Ghulam Muhammad Wangnoo of Bhaganpora Lal Bazar lodged a report at police station Lal Bazar that burglars have struck in his showroom at Bagwanpora and decamped with handmade Kashmiri Shawls worth eighteen lac rupees. Meanwhile, the DIG said a similar report was recorded at police station Nishat. “On the intervening night of 22-23 July 2011 burglars had stolen costly carpets and shawls worth Rs. 50 lakh from Zabarwan Gift House,” he said.
A special investigation team was constituted by SSP Srinagar Ashiq Bukhari.
“During the course of investigation the SIT with their professional skills arrested two notorious burglars Parvaiz Ahmad of Sadanara Sumbal and Firdous Ahmad of Gousia Colony Bemina,” the police said.
Stolen property worth 60 lakh rupees was recovered from their instances. Besides cash Rs. 40000, Maruti 800 JK01H-0737 and a load carrier JK01H-5276 were also seized from the burglars, the police said.
