Provide prompt relief to Digdol mishap victims: LA panel

Srinagar, Sep 15: Asking the Deputy Commissioner of Ramban to provide prompt relief to the accident victims of Digdol road mishap, the committee of Legislative Assembly studying the causes of road mishaps, has asked the district administration, traffic and police authorities to take all preventive measures for minimizing the chances of road mishaps in future.
“It is in the interest of passenger safety to check overloading and rash driving particularly in Ramban district, which has hilly and  tough terrain and serpentine roads”, the committee said.
The committee, which is headed by legislator M Y Tarigami said that lack of proper monitoring of the traffic system in such districts is hazardous akin to inviting death, exhorting the district administration to attend on the issue on first priority.
The panel has also sought free and sophisticated treatment to the injured in the top medical hospitals of the State. It also prayed for peace to the departed souls, expressing solidarity with the bereaved families.
