KBC threatens agitation

UMER MAQBOOL

Srinagar, Sep 16: The Kupwara Bachow Committee (KBC) on Friday warned State government of agitation if it fails to withdraw the deputation order of 38 surplus employees of Public Sector Undertakings against the class-IV vacancies of the district.
Addressing a news conference here, Member Legislative Assembly Lolab and Chairman KBC Abdul Haq Khan said, “Earlier the jobs were snatched from the youth under inter district recruitment policy and after legislation banned it, new ways of usurping jobs are being adopted. If the deputation order is not withdrawn, we will fight against it,” he said.
Accusing government of discriminating the district, Haq said meager Rs 32 lakhs were released against the losses of more than Rs 116 crore caused by floods last year in Kupwara
Member of legislative Council Syed Rafiq Shah said no steps have been taken by the government to bring the district at par with other districts in respect of development and job opportunities
The spokesman of KBC advocate Bashir Ahmad Dar also flayed successive regimes of the state for apathetic attitude towards the district.
“Our district has vast potential for tourism and this sector has also been discriminated here,” he added.
