Handicraft deptt organizes workshop for artisans

Kupwara, Sep 17: The Handicraft Department today organized and awareness-cum workshop for artisans of Handwara tehsil in which different financial institutions displayed their stalls to acquaint training to the artisans of the area who participated in the awareness camp. It was given out that an amount of Rs 5.15 lakh were distributed among the artisans of Magam, Super-Naghama, Pohrupath and other places as stipend, an official statement said. Assistant Director Handicrafts A G Dar was chief guest on the occasion while officers of different departments spoke on the occasion for financial assistance to the artisans so that they will establish their own income generating units.
