Jammu, Sept 18: Reiterating resolve of his party to address aspirations of all regions and sub-regions of the State, patron of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Muhammad Sayeed today said that roadmap prepared by his party was the only viable and most acceptable solution of the Kashmir problem.
Addressing a public meeting at Sarore area, Mufti said that self rule document has potential to solve both external and dimensions of the problem and this document was prepared by accommodating wishes of all the stake holders.
“Power is not my aim. My desire is to make Jammu and Kashmir as Island of Peace with the support and cooperation of the people of this region”, Sayeed said and called upon the political leadership of the country to take the peace and reconciliation process to its logical end.
“The previous PDP-Congress regime had initiated the peace process which ultimately brought positive change in this region”, he said and added that it was result of the reconciliation process started by previous coalition regime that peace was restored from Kathua to Kargil and a sense of security was development among the common masses.
PDP patron while throwing light on the road map prepared by the party, said that the Self Rule encompassed practical proposals for the resolution of the political, economic, internal and external dimensions of the issue of Jammu and Kashmir that could constitute the fundamentals of a comprehensive resolution package in tune with the global and ground realities.
He said Self-Rule proposal offers an inclusive solution that not only adequately accommodates the just concerns of all the regions and sub-regions of the State, but that of both India and Pakistan as well.
He said that solution of Kashmir problem was must for sustainable peace and economic growth of this region because resolution of this problem was key to the lasting peace and prosperity in the entire South Asia.
PDP patron emphasized on expanding the scope of trans LoC trade and travel. He argued that to make the historic 2005 initiatives more meaningful it was necessary to remove the hassles in the movement of goods and passengers.
“The facility of visiting both sides of LoC should be extended beyond the divided families to common citizens of the two sides”, he demanded and regretted that decisions taken in the Foreign Ministers of India and Pakistan were yet to be implemented.
