Gujjar-Bakerwals demand year round schools for children
Srinagar: Gujjar and Bakerwals living in upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir have urged the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to direct the Education Ministry to start round-the-year schooling for their children.
A delegation of Gujjars and Bakerwals of Budgam district sought CM’s intervention in the matter.
“When all other children in the State are able to study round the year, why can’t our children?” the delegation asked.
The delegation said the seasonal teachers have been doing commendable job in upper reaches of Khan Sahib tehsil.
“However, the temporary nature of this job impacts psyche of teachers and the teaching. We request the CM to make schooling of our children round- the- year,” it said.
