Corruption scams
Refer to stories in Greater Kashmir highlighting cases of corruption in our state. I went through the stories filed by Faheem Aslam on Election Photo Identity Card Scam in Chadoora Budgam. But till date I haven't seen any statement from the government on this issue. The government seems to be disinterested in taking the issues related to governance and corruption seriously. The story about EPIC money is same in other Tehsils. If Rs 2 lakh have been misappropriated in Chadoora, we can guess how much it would be in total if we multiply 32 lakhs by 70 [no of tehsils in J&K]. I was shocked to know that some RTI activists have been booked under false charges in Gandoh area of Doda when they tried to seek same information from the teshil office there. It was great to see stories on allotment of more than 2000 works by PWD in J&K since last two years. But what action has the Chief Minister or Javeed Ahmad Dar Minister of State for PWD taken? In fact Mr Dar had assured the GK correspondent that he will probe this issue but it seems that there is no accountability in our state now. The corruption seems to have been institutionalized and all the people from peon to Minister are involved in it. We had few big corruption cases against which FIRs were registered by State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) but they too are pending in SVO since years. Media is playing its role quite efficiently but it is up to the Government to act after a scam is exposed. Why Government has not acted after Greater Kashmir exposed nearly 10 corruption scams is a matter of concern
