Detained youth mentally challenged: Family

HuJI email trail

GK NEWS NETWORK

Jammu, Sep 20: As the police failed to make any breakthrough in the HuJI email case, claiming responsibility of Delhi High Court blast, family members of one of the arrested youth on Tuesday alleged that the investigating agency is trying to implicate their “mentally challenged” son to save their skin.
The youth Amir Abbass son of Ghulam Abass, a petition writer at Kishtwar court, is in police custody for past one week. He has been booked along with two others in the FIR lodged on the inputs provided by the National Investigation Agency.
Ghulam Abbas, father of the arrested youth, claimed that his son was mentally challenged and his prolonged detention will further aggravate his ailment.
“We want justice. No one is ready to listen to our problem due to the sensation created by the media. His mother has gone in depression since the day of his arrest”, the aggrieved father said.
Though police itself admitted that the youth, a part-one student of BA, has no previous record of involvement in any militancy or crime related incident. “We are using different methods of investigation, which needs time”, a police officer, said.
“The fact that my son is mentally challenged is known to everyone in my locality but police is finding it so difficult to ascertain the same”, he asked.
“Initially I came to know during the days of investigation after the Delhi Blast that my son Amir Abbas had been detained by the police and NIA for questioning. However, he was not released. Later, we learnt that my son has been named as master mind behind the blast,” the elderly father rued.
He said that the family was stunned with the arrest as he was the person, who even does not know streets of his hometown properly then how could he be involved in such a plan which took many lives.
“Due to his mental ailment my son is presently pursuing his graduation through distance education mode. He is not fit for regular classes”, he added.
