This refers to the write up 'Arab Autumn' by Syed Arshad Hussain Kashani (GK Sep 15). The views expressed by the author are an eye opener for the entire Muslim world. The writer has somehow missed the issue of clash of civilizations which is the motive behind these machinations. It was only about three hundred years after the Romans were driven out of Masapotamia ( present day Iraq, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Moraco) that Christians made a come back in 1011 AD and captured Libya, Egypt, Iraq. This invasion lasted till 1088 AD. The Muslims regrouped under one Noor-ud-Din Zangi and a long battle ensued for four years when the commander in chief attained martyrdom. The command of the Muslim army passed on to his younger brother Sallah-ud-Din Zangi who fought so valiantly that the Christian army was defeated and thrown across the strait of Jibralter. This brave Muslim General was none other than Sallah uddin Ayubi whose grave in Syria was visited by the allied  forces' General in 2003 and remarked, while placing his foot on the grave stone, "Sallah uddin -we are back". The readers may please mark the arrogance of General which speaks volumes about the vengeance they are nursing even after fourteen hundred years. The oil may be a collateral advantage but the motive remains revenge.
