Plush Nigeen colony lane never macadamized
SYED IMRAN ALI HAMDANI
Srinagar, Sep 22: Believe it or not, the plush Nigeen area, a favourite with foreign tourists, still has an “archaic” colony lane, which was never macadamized even though the area is inhabited for the past over six decades.
This is the plight of Dar Mohalla Lane, which also leads to Greenland School. The locals and the school people have been facing constant inconvenience due to the dilapidated road conditions.
While driving on the road attracts chances of mishaps, even a walk on foot is equally inconvenient.
The residents said they many a time brought the matter into the notice of the authorities including local MLA Dr Mustafa Kamal but to no avail.
Ironically, the dilapidated lane is just adjacent to the famed Nigeen Club, a place frequented by the government top brass.
“Still no one has bothered to get the lane macadamized,” the residents said. They appealed Mubarak Gul Advisor to Chief Minister to look into the matter and direct the concerned authorities to get it macadamized at an earliest.
