Dr Darakshan calls on GOC

Urges Army to start recruitment drive for youth

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, Sep 23: President of Socialist Democratic Party (SDP), Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, on Friday called on the General Officer Commanding of Srinagar based Chinar Corps at Badamibagh cantonment here and discussed various issues with him, a SDP spokesman said in a statement.
He said the SDP president presented a memorandum to Gen Hasnain in which she emphasized for the need to start massive recruitment drives for youth in Army.
“Dr Darakhshan praised General Hasnain for his constructive and healthy approach in creating an environment of goodwill in the troubled Valley,” the spokesman said.
The SDP president told the GOC that in absence of the organized and developed private sector in the valley, the educated youth of Kashmir is confronted with the frustration of joblessness. “All the hopes of getting jobs in government sector have already been crushed due to ban on the general employment in the state,” she said. “With a vision of Sadbhavana, Indian Army has a scope of catering to unemployment problem to some extent. The Army should hold special recruitment drives for local youth. It will definitely earn the trust of the youth of the state and will help them to overcome frustration.”
General Hasnain, according to the spokesman, appreciated Dr Darkshan’s proposal and assured her that it would be implemented in future. “Army’s    priority is to address the aspirations of youth and wipe out all suspicions between common men and the security agencies,” the spokesman quoted GOC as having told the SDP president.
