Kissan Mela held at Machil
Machil, Sep 25: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir has said that holding of Kissan Melas-cum- Exhibition in the far off areas would bear fruits only when the showcased technology in Melas could be utilized in farms like Machil, Keran, Tangdhar and Guraze areas. The Minister was addressing after the inauguration of one day Kissan Melas- Cum - Exhibition at Machil and Keran this morning.
It is pertinent to mention here that in history of Agriculture it is the first time that Kissan Melas-cum- Exhibition were held in such areas which lies on the zero line of line of Actual Control.
The Minister directed director Agriculture, Kashmir to send a team of officers of Agriculture and its allied departments along with research scientists of SKUAST to Keran and Machil areas at the earliest to assess the introduction of diverse crop rotation according to local climatic conditions and they also survey the scope of other allied activities in these areas.
He said these areas need to cultivate such crops and plantation of fruit bearing plants which could produce the crops during short period.
Mir called upon the officers of Agriculture and its allied departments to make a regular feature for awareness camps of various schemes beneficial for the farming community in these far and remote areas.
