Rahul rejects Geelani’s allegations
Srinagar, Sep 25: All India Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Sunday rejected allegations leveled by the Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani regarding his party launching membership drive in University of Kashmir.
Rahul’s secretary Meenakshi Natrajan told a vernacular news agency KNS over phone from New Delhi that Rahul has no intentions of launching membership drive in the KU. “Rahul Gandhi has been visiting universities across the country to get acquainted with the students. Rahul himself is against using the educational institutions for political benefits. However, he is visiting KU on the invitation of the university administration,” she said.
Asked if Rahul Gandhi would press state government for academic reforms and filling up of vacant posts in the university, Meenakshi said that it would depend upon the demands of the students. (KNS)
