Begging menace
This refers to the front page photograph (GK Sep 23).The photograph showed two small children of professional beggars on road side. Putting these tender souls on road side is just unrealistic and pathetic. Isn't it a human rights violation? It was really a heartbreaking picture wherein small kids who even don’t know how to crawl were assigned the job of begging. This really is an inhuman act. The begging menace is rampant every where in the valley. The number of non-state beggars has assumed alarming proportions. Begging has turned into a well organised profession. Kingpins of these beggars drop them in the wee hours and later pick them up. Severe punishment should be awarded to those who are behind this profession. The photograph also tells a story of begging itself. Authorities should wake up from deep slumber to check this menace.
