Wangnoo, who is also President TASK, was speaking during a question answer session at a “special panel discussion on houseboats.”

In his speech Manzoor Ahmed Wangnoo said that “unless and until there is peoples participation, conservation of Nigeen lake will be difficult.” He strongly “objected proposed construction of amusement park and four meter road inside the Dal.”
He hailed “Department of Tourism's initiative on Eco-Tourism and for beautifying Nehru Park, Chinar Bagh and Zabarwan Park on eco-friendly pattern.”
Later talking to Greater Kashmir Abdul Khaliq Wangnoo said the houseboat “industry was earning a bad name in every forum that the houseboats pollute the lake.”
“They only label us with a bad name but never give a remedy….Where does the human waste go which comes out of the houseboats?” he asked.
