State property
Findings of the State Finance Commission about the state assets outside the state reveal that a minor state property is lying in Mumbai. But this property which belonged to the former Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir and was later converted into Kashmir House at Malabar hills in Mumbai is a huge property. The property was misused by the state players including politicians and provided on a plate to influential builders having good connection in the government under the garb of reconstruction. The building named as Kashmir House was used by the state government for official purposes and for lodging and boarding of state guests and at times the ailing patients visiting Bombay hospital for treatment were also accommodated there. But during 1988 a plan was made by the state government to modify and renovate the old grand structure into a palatial structure and a construction company given the project. The project was formulated and construction was started as per the agreement between the state and the builder. During the course of execution of work, the building was divided in violation of rules. Nobody talks about this.
