Bus overturns, 20 pilgrims injured

Jammu, Sep 28: At least 20 pilgrims were injured, 15 of them critically, when a Katra bound bus turned turtle near Domail on Jammu- Srinagar highway on Wednesday.
Officials said that bus ( No.JK02H 7941) carrying pilgrims who were on way to take part in the Navratra festival, met with accident near Domail while negotiating a sharp curve.
Soon after the incident, rescue parties reached on the spot and evacuated the injured commuters. About 12 critically injured passengers were shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, while others were provided medical help at Katra hospital.
“The vehicle skidded off the road and we are investigating the causes for the same. All the injured people were provided first aid at the spot before they where shifted to GMC”, said a traffic police official.
Meanwhile, the traffic movement on highway remained disrupted for more than one hour during the rescue operation at the site of accident.
