1 killed, 2 injured in road mishaps
Srinagar, Sep 29: One person was killed and two others injured in different road accidents in Kashmir.
A motorcycle bearing registration number (JK01C-2333) hit and critically wounded Muhammad Yousuf Dar son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din of Hygam Check near Higher Secondary School Tarzoo, Sopore, police spokesman said, adding the wounded was shifted to SMHS Hospital here where he succumbed to injuries.
Police spokesman said the motorcyclist fled away from the spot, adding a case had been registered in this regard.
In another incident, a Tata 407 mini bus bearing registration number (JK01F-3501) collided with another vehicle bearing registration number (JK13A-7343) at Kohan Khan, Dalgate resulting in injuries to Shabir Ahmad Gojri son of Ghulam Hassan of Rainawari, he said adding the wounded had been shifted to hospital and a case registered.
A vehicle hit and injured a girl, Rabia Rashid daughter of Abdul Rashid of Langate at Langate Handwara, police spokesman said adding the wounded girl had been shifted to SKIMS Soura for treatment. He said the driver had been arrested and vehicle seized,
MAN ATTEMPTS SUICIDE
A man attempted suicide allegedly by consuming some poisonous substance at his home at Srigufwara Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) district.
According to police spokesman, the person has been identified as Abdul Ahad Reshi son of Ambir. He said Abdul Ahad was shifted to SMHS hospital here for treatment, he said adding a case had been registered in this regard.
HOMAGE PAID TO COPS
Police on Thursday paid homage to the Head Constable, Shiraz Ahmad and Constable Gulzar who were killed during an encounter with militants at Awathkul forests in Kupwara.
According to police spokesman, a wreath laying ceremony was held at district Police lines, Kupwara, where all ranks of the police and Army paid homage to the cops for their sacrifices.
