Masjid-e-Noor sans streetlights
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Sep 4: The residents of Raj Bagh have complained that there are no streetlights on way to Masjid-e-Noor there due to which the Musalees face inconvenience in visiting the worship place.
The resident said it could be the only area in the posh locality where the Srinagar Municipal Corporation has failed to install streetlights.
They said venturing out of homes during night hours was more inconvenient because of stray dogs, scores of whom prowl in the area.
Advocate Syed Lateef, a lawyer living in the area said: “Legally speaking, it’s the fundamental right of people to get access to basic civic facilities like drinking water, proper roads and streetlights.”
“Still we have been deprived of this right on the lighting front,” a delegation of the residents said.
The residents and the Masjid Intizaamiya people have appealed the SMC Commissioner, Sheikh Mushtaq and the local MLA Nasir Sogami to look into the matter and get the lights installed.
