Srinagar, Sep 4: Clearing “clouds” over holding of elections of the Houseboat Owners Association, the houseboats owners Sunday resolved that the elections would be held only after the General Body meeting of the HBOA on September 18 wherein apart from other things “balance sheets of the accounts would be put for scrutiny so that the election process gets a final shape.”
The owners of some prominent houseboats called an emergency meeting at Hotel Grand Mumtaz to discuss the HBOA functioning and “confusion which has arisen about the holding of elections.”
The houseboat owners are learnt to have said that the “elections cannot be held prematurely unless other concerned issues particularly the account details come out in black and white.”
The houseboat owners resolved that General Meeting of the HBOA would be held on September 18 at Chinar Bagh in the City. The meeting which was chaired by prominent tourism player Ghulam Rasool Siyah said in the scheduled General Body meeting they would “finalize the date of election and also that the balance sheet and other related matters will be discussed.”
“In an emergency meeting of houseboat owners which was called today, at Grand Mumtaz, besides some other matters the election of HBOA were discussed. It was decided that a General Body meeting will be held and all houseboats owners be invited to attend the meeting,” a copy of the resolution reads.
The houseboats owners also clarified that the notification for the same has already been issued by the HBOA.
“Although a notice has already been issued on 6-7-2011 regarding the meeting, it was resolved that letters be sent to all houseboats owners informing them that the meeting will be held on September 18 at 2: Pm at Chinar Bagh where the balance sheet of accounts and other related matters will be presented to the general body and above all finalize the date of elections as per the constitution,” the resolution added.
