‘Medical negligence’ triggers protest in Kangan

SHEIKH NAZIR

Kangan, Sep 5: The residents of Katchnambal Kangan staged protests and blocked Srinagar-Leh highway at main chowk here against alleged negligence of medical staff at Sub-District hospital Kangan on Monday.
Protests erupted after death of Kaaloo Neelu son of Muhammad Ismayil Neelo at the hospital. The protesters enforced shutdown in the area and placed the body on the road.  The local sarpanchs, Ghulam Rasool and Muhammad Yaqoob alleged that the death took place due to negligence of the medical staff.  "Kaloo was admitted in the hospital after he fell down from a tree. Due to absence of medical staff there, he succumbed to his injuries” the Sarpanchs alleged. Later Tehsildar and SHO Kangan pacified the protesters assuring them to probe the matter.
