Enhance honorarium of ReTs: Tarigami to Govt
Srinagar, Sep 5: CPI (M) State Secretary M Y Tarigami today reiterated the demand for enhancing honorarium of Rehbar-i-Taleem teachers and counting their service on regularization.
In a statement here, he said while the entire country is observing Teachers Day, it becomes the prime obligation of the government to safeguard genuine service interests of the pedagogic community.
Teachers Day, he said, should sensitize all of us about the crucial importance of this community in shaping human resources, adding it should not be celebrated in a mere ritual manner.
Tarigami also called upon the teachers to honor their pious profession and live up to their professional standards. He said future glimpses of progress and prosperity of a nation could be gauged from the level of commitment of its teachers. “Higher commitment on their part leads to faster progress and development”, he said.
Maintaining that quality education and universalization of education should go hand in hand, Tarigami highlighted the need to have strict monitoring mechanism in place to see to it that quality education is imparted in government schools.
This, he said would help to develop efficient human resources capable of shouldering major socio-economic and political responsibilities. “Younger generation is our greatest asset, whom we are duty bound to groom and guide properly”, he added.
