HCBA concerned over arrest of youth
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Sep 5: The High Court Bar Association (HCBA) on Monday expressed concern over the random arrests of youth.
In a meeting, the Bar Association with its president, Mian Qayoom, in chair expressed great concern over the non implementation of court orders in
Habeas corpus and other matters which it said was a move to prolong the arrest periods of the detainees, a Bar spokesman said in a statement.
“This move has made the courts defunct and the meaning of justice redundant and is highly condemnable,” he added.
“The Bar Association shall continue to provide legal aid and assistance to the prisoners of conscience, languishing in jails and interrogation centres, who are all innocent and as the presumption of innocence, is a human right, it is therefore, the moral as well as professional obligation and duty of the members of the Bar to safeguard rights and interests of the detainees by providing them such a legal aid and assistance,” the statement said.
He said in the meeting it was reiterated that until Kashmir dispute is settled in accordance with the United Nations Resolutions and as per the wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the Bar Association would continue to strive for the achievement of the goal in a peaceful and dignified manner.
