Air Commodore D Choudhury takes over as AFS Sgr Head
Srinagar, Sep 7: Air Commodore, D Choudhury has assumed command of Air Force Station Srinagar from Air Commodore Upkarjit Singh on September 5 at a ceremonial parade.
According to a communiqué, Air Commodore, D Choudhury was commissioned in Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot on December 22 1983. He has a vast experience in fighter operations and is qualified on MiG-21, MiG-23/27, MiG-29, SU-30K and SU-30Mk I. He is also a Fighter Combat Leader and an Instrumental Rating Instructor and Examiner, it said.
He has commanded a fighter squadron and was the Chief Operations Officer of a frontline fighter wing and has held various staff appointments at Air HQ, it said adding Air Commodore, D Choudhury was an alumni of the Royal College of Defence Studies in UK.
He has received a Commendation by the Chief of Air Staff and has been awarded Vayu Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal.
It said Vyjayanthi Choudhury assumed the mantle of President Air Force Wives Welfare Association (Local) and is responsible for the welfare of the families of the Air Warriors of the Air Force Station Srinagar.
